General Information


The Appalachian Inclusive Emergency Preparedness Conference is an unprecedented event in that will bring together emergency management, public health, human services and disability stakeholders from throughout the rural Appalachian region to discuss the latest issues in inclusive emergency management and response.

This day-and-a-half conference is hosted by the Kentucky Council on Developmental Disabilities, the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, Kentucky Self-Advocates for Freedom and enableUS. This interactive and engaging seminar will examine some of the greatest challenges in meeting the unique access and functional needs of the entire community in disasters and strategies to overcome these issues. Speakers from national, state and local government agencies and organizations will focus on programs that have worked in their communities as well as continued shortfalls and challenges that they experience. 

Through keynote and panel presentations, facilitated audience discussions, break out sessions and networking breaks, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with speakers and other attendees to exchange information about what is working in communities throughout the Appalachian region and the nation on including larger groups of stakeholders in emergency planning and response

Room Block

The registration fee covers two nights of lodging at Jenny Wiley State Park (If Required) all rooms are based on double occupancy. Attendees will be rooming with another attendee of the same gender, every effort will be made to place attendees with colleagues or co-workers. No opposite-sex attendees will be placed together unless that person is an attendant. If you live within reasonable driving distance of Jenny Wiley, please do not request lodging as there is only limited lodging available, a travel stipend will be issued to all attendees that do not stay at the lodge to defer gas expenses.
